Tidewater Rotary Club members were busy this summer volunteering their time and resources to support the local community. Through a variety of service projects and drives, the club made a positive impact on several organizations and initiatives.
Here’s a look at some of the highlights from this summer’s volunteer efforts:
- Pancam Twilight 5K: Members volunteered at the Pancam Twilight 5K on August 9.
- Chesapeake Creative Wellness Second Saturday in the Park: Members were involved in request to help find vendors and sponsors and spread the word about this member organized event.
- Senior Supply Drive: Throughout the summer, members collected incontinent supplies for Talbot County residents and brought them to Brookletts. They also created birthday cards and gift bags for seniors.
- Alzheimer’s Association Walk: The club was a sponsor of the Alzheimer’s Association walk on September 13 at Idlewild Park.
- Frederick Douglas Day: Members were scheduled to assist with the setup for Frederick Douglas Day on September 27.
- Constitutional Alliance, Art Academy: Members were encouraged to volunteer at this event and help spread the word on September 17.
- Meals on Wheels: The club noted a need for volunteers for the Meals on Wheels program with a call to action to get involved with other food insecurity initiatives within our community.
- Project Purple: The club was involved with Project Purple on September 5.
- Neighborhood Service Center and Salvation Army: The club granted funds to these two organizations to support their programming.
