The Colors of Cancer Committee donated $1000 from the Richard Slaughter Patient in Need Fund to the Upper Eastern Shore Oncology Nursing Society. These funds will be used to support cancer patients and their families during treatment.
Thanks to the generosity of the Tidewater Rotary, the Colors of Cancer Committee was able to establish two funds with the Mid-Shore Community Foundation: The Richard Slaughter Patient in Need Fund and the Michael Menzies Oncology Scholarship Fund. The Tidewater Rotary has donated funds from their Flags for Cancer program since its beginning in 2020.
Colors of Cancer began in 2011 but has been part of the Mid-Shore Community Foundation since 2019. The goal was to keep the dollars raised to support folks on the Upper Eastern Shore.
The Colors of Cancer Fund is a component fund of Mid-Shore Community Foundation, a public foundation designated as a 501(c)(3) charity. Donations to the Fund support the annual Colors of Cancer event honoring hometown heroes and are tax-deductible as allowed by law.
